The original Naval Veterans Association received a Federal Charter in 1919, but because the Association terminated its activities in 1925, the charter expired in January 1929. - Associate Member - any individual who is or was a member of the regular or reserve armed forces, who is or was a Navy League Cadet Officer or who is a former Sea Cadet. There are 3 classes of membership: - Naval Member - any individual who is or was a member of naval services, marines, coast guard or merchant marine. Membership is open to all upon submission of an application and approval by the Membership Committee. The present Naval Club of Toronto was established in February, 1935 under a Provincial Charter and continues the role of the original organization to this day. The purpose of the club is to promote fellowship among its members, maintain naval customs and traditions, and perpetuate the memories and deeds of those who gave their lives while serving in the Naval Service of Canada and its Allies. - Social Member - any individual without the above naval or military affiliation who wishes to support the aims and activities of the club.
